Origin
Shades of Black came about because we had become sharply aware of:
► the urgent need for change towards equitable participation, particularly for those who have historically been excluded
► the need for innovative approaches to help bring about such change
► the limitations posed by working for institutions and through professions.
Realizing our mission requires going beyond institutionalized or conventional practices. We anticipate that an entrepreneurial approach will allow our individual and collective passions, aspirations, experiences, skills, knowledge and networks to be tapped into and applied more freely, creatively, meaningfully and effectively.
